SquareX wins top browser security solution award for 2025

SquareX has been recognised as the winner of the "Browser Security Solution of the Year" award in the 9th annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards programme.

The award is part of an annual event conducted by CyberSecurity Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organisation, which aims to identify and acknowledge products, companies, and technologies making significant contributions to the global information security sector.

SquareX's recognition follows the growing strategic importance of browsers in the enterprise IT landscape, as organisations face complex web-based security threats. The company's Browser Detection and Response (BDR) platform has been developed to help enterprises address a wide range of browser threats, including malicious extensions, rogue artificial intelligence agents, and data leakage linked to generative AI tools.

SquareX's offering consists of a browser extension compatible with all browsers and devices, including AI-powered browsers. The extension is designed to convert any browser environment into a secure enterprise browser while minimising operational disruption and productivity loss, according to the company.

The SquareX solution targets three main security use cases: detection and mitigation of client-side attacks such as malicious browser extensions, rogue AI agents, identity attacks, spearphishing, and dangerous sites or files; prevention of data loss and leakage via controls over genAI tools, clipboard actions, file sharing, insider threats and data exfiltration; and securing access to internal enterprise apps for purposes including VDI reduction, bring-your-own-device policies, contractor integration and support for remote workers.

The combination of the three aspects of browser security in a single platform is presented as a distinguishing factor for SquareX. The company states that existing tools, such as endpoint detection and response solutions (EDRs) or secure access service edge/secure service edge (SASE/SSE), may offer limited visibility and protection inside the browser environment-leaving the potential for sophisticated, client-side threats unaddressed.

The CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards aim to highlight advancements and achievements in areas including cloud security, threat intelligence, risk management, fraud prevention, mobile security, and application security. This year's programme received thousands of submissions spanning over 20 countries, covering both emerging startups and established multinational organisations.
