Bolt has launched an AI-powered insurance distribution platform for all lines, covering admitted, excess and surplus, and wholesale markets.

The San Francisco-based insurtech built the system for distribution partners, including independent agencies, brokerages, carriers, and consumer and commercial brands. It brings customer data, workflows, and market access into one system designed to support the full distribution process, from prospecting and quoting to placement, servicing, and renewal.

The launch addresses a long-standing problem in insurance distribution: agencies and brokers often rely on multiple systems and manual processes. Those fragmented set-ups can lead to repeated data entry, slower quoting and servicing, and missed sales opportunities.

Bolt describes the model as Connected Distribution. In practice, it combines customer engagement tools, workflow automation, and access to insurance markets on a single platform rather than across separate applications.

The product uses conversational AI across voice, SMS, chat, and email to gather structured information from customer interactions. It also draws on customer, risk, and account history to build a profile that can be used throughout the policy lifecycle.

The platform also focuses on workflow execution. It can carry out tasks such as quoting, routing, servicing, binding, and customer relationship management updates without manual hand-offs between staff or external tools.

Market access is central to the launch. The platform connects distribution partners to insurance lines across the US through both API-based and non-API carrier processes, while automating parts of carrier interaction and running quoting processes in parallel.

Bolt said the platform is built on more than USD $85 billion in annual quoted premium and more than 5,000 product connections across core and specialty lines. The system is also designed to integrate with existing technology stacks used by agencies, brokers, and other distribution businesses.

The company also shared performance figures from customers already using its technology. Distribution partners have recorded a twofold increase in high-intent lead conversion rates and a 34% rise in bound policies.

Customer demand

The launch comes as insurers and distributors face growing pressure to offer digital buying experiences similar to those in banking, retail, and other consumer services. Customers increasingly expect to get quotes, compare options, and complete purchases online while still being able to speak to an adviser when needed.

Nga Phan, Head of Product at Bolt, said the company sees a gap in existing insurance AI tools, which often address only one task at a time.

"Most AI tools in insurance solve one isolated problem. Bolt's AI is built natively into the platform, so it doesn't just engage customers conversationally across every channel; it autonomously executes the full distribution lifecycle. With connected access for all lines in one platform, our customers are using AI-powered distribution to expand market access and unlock new growth," Phan said.

That approach reflects a broader shift in the sector toward applying AI not just to customer service but also to operational steps such as underwriting support, quoting, and servicing. Bolt is positioning its platform as a distribution-layer tool that spans personal, commercial, and specialty insurance channels.

Bank channel

One customer cited by Bolt is TRB Insurance, a subsidiary of Texas Regional Bank and an independent insurance brokerage offering personal, commercial, and employee benefits products. According to the company, the brokerage used Bolt's system to improve its digital customer journey.

"Today's banking customers expect a seamless eCommerce experience: fast and easy to navigate. Bolt has helped us bring that same experience to insurance, and we're now able to deliver a modern digital experience that better matches how customers expect to engage today," said Jorge Garcia, Senior Vice President at TRB Insurance.

The platform is available nationwide in the US, extending Bolt's reach beyond standard admitted products into excess and surplus and wholesale channels. That breadth is notable in a market where systems often specialise in a narrower part of the distribution chain or a limited set of product lines.

Bolt focuses on property and casualty insurance distribution and works with insurers and distributors seeking to digitise how cover is bought and sold. Its latest launch is intended to give agencies, brokers, carriers, and embedded insurance distributors a single route to manage customer interactions, execute internal processes, and access multiple insurance markets.
