Certinia buys Moonnox to boost AI services delivery

Certinia has acquired Moonnox, adding an AI-focused services delivery platform to its software portfolio.
The acquisition will bring Moonnox's technology into Veda, Certinia's AI system for professional services operations. The combined offering is designed to automate administrative work, project management tasks and parts of project delivery for professional services teams.
Certinia framed the move as a response to persistent manual work in services organisations, where consultants and project teams spend time on notes, statements of work, status updates and handovers. It cited research showing billable utilisation at 66.4%, which it described as a historic low.
Workflow focus
Moonnox has built software for the professional services sector that captures context from day-to-day work across business applications. That context can be drawn from tools including Salesforce, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence and Zoom, alongside data already held in Certinia's professional services, customer success and financial management products.
The aim is to connect structured records with the unstructured information generated in meetings, documents, conversations and project collaboration. Certinia said this should allow teams to move from sales to delivery and then to renewal without rebuilding information at each stage.
The expanded Veda product will include what Certinia described as foundational master agents and prebuilt agents for common services workflows. These include proposal drafting, statement of work generation, project kickoff support, planning, meeting summaries, daily task management, scope reviews, sentiment analysis, retrospectives and knowledge capture.
The acquisition reflects a broader shift in enterprise software, as suppliers look beyond narrow AI assistants toward tools that can act across multiple stages of work. In professional services, that means linking sales, delivery, finance and customer success systems with the activity that takes place outside formal systems of record.
DJ Paoni, Chief Executive Officer of Certinia, said trust in AI output is central to adoption in services firms. "Professional services firms are at a critical inflection point. They must leverage AI to transform productivity, but that only works if teams can trust the output without manual rework," Paoni said.
"Acquiring Moonnox empowers services teams with the exact context they need, right when they need it. With compounding AI that captures organizational intelligence and improves with every project, we are giving our customers the definitive edge to win today and the foundation to lead tomorrow," he added.
Customer example
Certinia also pointed to a shared customer as evidence of how the technology is already being used. Spaulding Ridge, a cloud advisory and implementation firm, uses both Certinia and Moonnox.
"As a customer of both Certinia and Moonnox, we're excited by this acquisition and the immense value it holds. We've seen the results firsthand: with Moonnox, we deployed an agent that made drafting solution architecture documents four times faster, reducing the process from approximately 80 hours to under 20 hours," said Jay Laabs, Executive Chair and Founder of Spaulding Ridge.
"Together, Certinia and Moonnox will allow us to automate manual orchestration, accelerate delivery, and free our consultants to focus on high-value work-helping us seize new opportunities in this changing market," Laabs added.
Market pressure
The transaction comes as professional services firms face pressure to protect margins while managing fragmented workflows and rising expectations around delivery speed. Software vendors in the sector have increasingly focused on automating handoffs between sales, implementation and customer success teams, where delays and duplicated work can affect project profitability.
Moonnox Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Robert Ong said the combination addresses a gap between conversational and operational data. "Services firms are sitting on billions of dollars in unclaimed value tied up in the manual work across winning a deal and delivering it," Ong said.
"What excites me most is the combination: Moonnox's ability to capture what happens in the room, paired with Certinia's system of record and Agentic capabilities for services operations, closes a gap neither of us could close alone. Together, we give services firms the foundation to capture that value, deliver with confidence, and evolve their operating models for the future," he continued.
Certinia sells professional services automation, customer success and financial management software, and says its products are used to manage the services lifecycle from sales through delivery and revenue recognition. Moonnox adds a layer focused on capturing and organising work context as teams collaborate across meetings, documents and project systems.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
