CloudBolt has appointed Alexander Thomson as Chief Executive Officer and Patricia Tantow as Chief Marketing Officer as it targets growing demand for managing cloud, Kubernetes and AI infrastructure.

Thomson succeeds Rod Squires, who has moved to the board. Thomson and Tantow both join from PlexTrac, where they worked through that company's acquisition by Brinqa.

They will focus on helping enterprises and service providers govern, automate and control costs across cloud, Kubernetes and AI infrastructure. Customer demand for visibility, governance and optimisation across those environments has increased.

Thomas Krane, Managing Director at Insight Partners, said the appointments build on work already under way at CloudBolt. Over the past year, the company has updated its cloud management platform for more complex hybrid cloud and AI environments and integrated StormForge's Kubernetes and GPU optimisation technology, he said.

"I've worked with Alex at several Insight portfolio companies and have seen firsthand how he builds go-to-market organizations that deliver exceptional business value," said Thomas Krane, Managing Director at Insight Partners.

"CloudBolt has spent the past year modernizing its cloud management platform for increasingly complex hybrid cloud and AI environments, integrating StormForge's Kubernetes and GPU optimization capabilities, and expanding the ways customers can manage and optimize their cloud environments. Both Alex and Patricia have the experience to build on that foundation and accelerate the company's growth. We are also grateful to Rod for his leadership and are pleased he'll stay close to the business as a board member," Krane said.

Leadership background

Before joining CloudBolt, Thomson was Chief Operating Officer at PlexTrac, an exposure management and pentest reporting software company. He oversaw global sales, marketing, customer success, strategy and business operations, and led the business through its acquisition by Brinqa.

Earlier in his career, Thomson was Vice President of Sales at Quantum Metric. During his tenure, annual recurring revenue there rose from USD $25 million to USD $100 million, according to CloudBolt. He also held sales leadership roles at N2W Software, GFI Software and LogicNow, which was acquired by SolarWinds.

Thomson said customer discussions showed AI becoming part of mainstream infrastructure planning rather than a separate technology track.

"In nearly every customer conversation I've had since joining, AI is part of the infrastructure plan," said Alexander Thomson, Chief Executive Officer at CloudBolt.

"The teams responsible for it are asking the same questions they've always asked about cloud: What are we running, who controls it, and what is it costing us? CloudBolt has spent the past year building the foundation to enable teams to answer those questions across their environments. I'm eager to bring that value to more customers as organizations weigh AI investment against the return it delivers," Thomson said.

Marketing hire

Tantow also joins from PlexTrac, where she served as Chief Marketing Officer through the sale to Brinqa and worked alongside Thomson. Earlier roles included Chief Marketing Officer at Instaclustr through its acquisition by NetApp, Vice President of Marketing at CIQ and Vice President of Marketing at Expanse, which was later acquired by Palo Alto Networks.

Her appointment gives CloudBolt a new senior marketing executive as software suppliers try to define their role in corporate AI spending. Businesses are under pressure to account for infrastructure costs as AI workloads expand across cloud services and containerised environments.

"Organisations are scaling AI faster than they can see what it's running or what it's costing them," said Patricia Tantow, Chief Marketing Officer at CloudBolt.

"CloudBolt has the technology, the expertise and the conviction to cut through that complexity and eliminate the waste. I look forward to bringing that clarity to customers to help them run their AI workloads with confidence," Tantow said.
