More than 10 million developers are now building on Cloudflare's platform, up from 7.4 million in the previous quarter.

The increase comes as artificial intelligence reshapes how software is created and deployed. Cloudflare said daily requests from AI agents across its network have risen by more than 1,700% over the past year.

It said the rise in developer numbers reflects broader demand for tools that combine computing, storage, databases and AI services in a single environment. Cloudflare began its developer push with Workers, its serverless compute product, and has since expanded into a broader application stack including media, real-time services, observability and developer workflows.

Developers are increasingly using AI to write code, generate applications and automate more of the software lifecycle, Cloudflare said. That shift is also changing the traffic moving across internet infrastructure, as software agents take on a larger role in interactions previously driven mainly by people.

Cloudflare said that, this year, more than half of internet traffic was non-human for the first time. It linked the shift to the growth of AI-native applications and agentic workflows, in which software systems interact continuously with applications, APIs and other agents.

The company is positioning its platform around that transition. Its developer products include Workers AI, Workers KV, AI Gateway, Durable Objects, D1 and R2, which are used to build and run applications distributed across multiple locations from the outset.

Cloudflare also highlighted the design of its underlying infrastructure. Workers runs on isolates rather than virtual machines or containers, an approach it said helps developers deploy applications quickly and scale them across its global network.

Network scale

Cloudflare said its network now spans more than 340 cities in more than 130 countries, with connections to 13,888 networks and 590 Tbps of external network capacity. It said this footprint is becoming more relevant as applications spread across more locations and AI increases both the volume and complexity of traffic.

That operational scale is central to Cloudflare's pitch to developers and companies building software that must serve both human users and automated systems. As AI agents begin performing tasks on behalf of businesses and users around the clock, cloud providers are under pressure to support more persistent and distributed workloads.

Rita Kozlov, Vice President of Product Management at Cloudflare, said the company's earlier work on a different compute model is now shaping its approach to the current wave of AI-led development.

"Cloudflare built Workers nearly a decade ago around a different kind of compute primitive, one designed for efficiency, speed, and global scale from the start," said Rita Kozlov, Vice President of Product Management at Cloudflare.

"That foundation matters even more as developers build for the agentic era, because the software lifecycle is expanding from developers building for people to developers and agents building for people and agents. More than 10 million developers are building on Cloudflare today, and we're focused on giving them the tools to turn any idea into a fast, scalable application," Kozlov said.

Cloudflare's comments underline a broader contest in cloud infrastructure, as providers seek to attract developers building AI services while adapting networks and platforms to support rising automated traffic. The market is shifting beyond conventional web hosting and application deployment towards systems that can handle continuous exchanges between models, applications and external services.

Changing workloads

Modern cloud platforms now need to support developers and agents working together, not only software written by developers for human users, Cloudflare said. That means handling application-to-application traffic and automated activity running constantly on behalf of organisations.

Dane Knecht, Chief Technology Officer at Cloudflare, said the company's network footprint gave developers a different starting point for software delivery.

"Cloudflare's network gives developers a fundamentally different foundation for building," said Dane Knecht, Chief Technology Officer at Cloudflare.

"When a platform spans more than 340 cities, connects with nearly 14,000 networks, and has just under 600 Tbps of external capacity, developers don't have to choose between speed, scale, and security. They can build once on Cloudflare and reach users, applications, and agents around the world," Knecht said.

For Cloudflare, the jump to more than 10 million developers is a sign of how quickly AI is changing software production and the cloud market that supports it, as infrastructure groups compete to become the base layer for applications used by both people and machines.
