Configit has signed a new US partnership with NxRev, linking Configit's Configuration Lifecycle Management software with NxRev's implementation and consulting work for manufacturers.

The agreement targets discrete manufacturers that use product lifecycle management systems and need closer links between engineering data and product configuration across the business. NxRev sells and supports PTC software, while Configit develops software for managing complex product configurations.

NxRev has worked with discrete manufacturers for more than 25 years and says it has completed more than 300 product lifecycle management implementations. Its work spans consulting, training and services aimed at helping manufacturers get more from their existing software investments.

For Configit, the deal adds a US partner with an established presence in the PTC ecosystem. For NxRev, it expands the range of issues it can address for customers beyond engineering design into downstream configuration and lifecycle processes.

Manufacturing focus

The companies are targeting manufacturers that manage complex products across design, production, sales and service. In these environments, product data often sits in engineering systems while configuration decisions affect multiple departments, creating a need for tighter coordination between software tools and operational processes.

Configit's business centres on Configuration Lifecycle Management, or CLM, which it describes as a way to manage product configuration consistently from engineering through manufacturing, sales and service. Its software includes Configit Ace, a software-as-a-service product for configuration and variant management.

Its products are built on patented Virtual Tabulation technology, which is designed to handle complex product configuration problems in a deterministic way. The announcement did not disclose financial terms or any customer commitments tied to the deal.

NxRev is positioning the agreement as an extension of its existing work with PTC customers. It describes itself as the largest PTC platinum partner on the US West Coast and says it sells the full suite of PTC software.

That matters because many manufacturers already rely on PTC systems for engineering and product lifecycle management. Adding Configit's software through a familiar implementation partner could give those customers a way to connect engineering configuration data with manufacturing and commercial processes without replacing core systems.

Partner strategy

The agreement also highlights the importance of partnerships in industrial software markets, where vendors often depend on resellers, systems integrators and consulting firms to reach customers and deliver implementations. In sectors such as discrete manufacturing, software buying decisions are often tied as much to deployment expertise and industry knowledge as to the underlying product.

By working with NxRev, Configit gains a partner with long-standing relationships in the manufacturing software market. NxRev, in turn, adds a configuration-focused offering it can bring to customers looking to connect design data with later stages of the product lifecycle.

Scott Carmichael, CEO and president of NxRev, said the deal would extend the company's role with PTC customers. "As the largest PTC platinum partner on the West Coast, we sell the entire suite of PTC software - and now, we will be able to address downstream configuration and product lifecycle challenges as well. Rather than solving only engineering design problems, we will help customers manage product configuration across engineering, manufacturing, sales and service. That's a competitive differentiator in this field."

Configit framed the partnership as a shared effort to help manufacturers improve operational efficiency and time-to-market through better use of technology already in place. It said the agreement would help customers extract more value from existing PTC investments by extending configuration management beyond engineering teams.

Johan Salenstedt, CEO of Configit, described the deal as a fit with the company's focus on engineering-led organisations and downstream process integration. "We welcome the opportunity to partner with a company that specializes in sales, support and consulting services for high-level engineering design organizations. This partnership with NxRev in the US will help manufacturers connect engineering configuration data with downstream manufacturing and sales processes, maximizing the value of their existing PTC investments."
