LG partners with Red Sox for major Fenway Park display upgrade
LG Electronics has announced a partnership with the Boston Red Sox to implement a large-scale display transformation at Fenway Park, Major League Baseball's oldest ballpark.
The display upgrades, which were completed at the end of March, include a main LED videoboard in centrefield that measures 30.5 metres in width and 11.5 metres in height, covering an area of 350.75 square metres. In addition to the main videoboard, LG provided eleven digital signage installations, contributing to a combined display area of approximately 842 square metres within the park.
These installations feature High Dynamic Range technology to ensure a balanced display of dark and bright elements. With high luminance exceeding 7,000 nits and IP65-rated water and dust resistance, the displays are designed to be adaptable to the outdoor stadium environment. Additionally, they offer flexible configurations tailored to the specific requirements of such venues.
On 4 April, fans attending the home opener between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals had the opportunity to experience these new display systems as they showcased vivid game details, marking the beginning of the 2025 MLB season at Fenway Park.
The partnership with the Boston Red Sox is part of LG's strategy to redefine the fan experience at Fenway Park, a stadium with significant historical importance since its opening in 1912. LG has also collaborated with ANC, the agency responsible for managing stadium operations and advertising on behalf of the Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox.
"This collaboration will elevate the in-venue experience for our fans with cutting-edge technology while also expanding LG's presence through dynamic activations that will engage Red Sox Nation all season long," said Troup Parkinson, Chief Marketing & Partnerships Officer for the Boston Red Sox.
Beyond Fenway Park, LG is focusing on growing its media entertainment platform business to reach sports fans globally. The company is integrating its display businesses, including TVs, monitors, and signage, under its Media Entertainment Solution Company. Previously this year, LG had installed displays over an area of 141 square metres at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, and has also been involved in projects at Atomic Golf in Las Vegas.
"We are thrilled to be able to strengthen our partnerships with prestigious global sports franchises," said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. "We will continue to enhance the value of customer spaces and strive to provide differentiated media entertainment experiences."
