New Relic named Observaility Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for 13th year
New Relic has been identified as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms for the 13th consecutive year.
The Gartner Magic Quadrant assesses observability vendors on criteria including product capabilities, market understanding, innovation, and overall strategy. According to the report, New Relic maintained its position in the Leaders quadrant, a place it has held since 2012, attributed to its vision and ability to execute.
Commenting on the recognition, New Relic CEO Ashan Willy said, "New Relic's consistent recognition as a Leader across all 13 iterations of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms since 2012 speaks volumes for us. In our view, this report validates our vision for AI and agentic orchestration, echoing what we hear from customers - when their most critical projects demand performance and reliability, they trust New Relic. Our continued investment in innovating our intelligent observability platform has been thoughtfully designed to anticipate and meet the needs of modern enterprises."
AI integrations
Over the past year, New Relic has introduced more than 25 new features to its platform. The company has prioritised integrations with partner technologies, including ServiceNow, GitHub Copilot, and Amazon Q Business. Its latest partnership involves integrating with a new coding agent within GitHub Copilot, designed to speed up the identification and resolution of software issues by providing proactive monitoring and repair.
Luke Hoban, Vice President Engineering, Developer AI at Microsoft, recently commented on this collaboration: "I see partners like New Relic as being a core part of how we're going to enable these coding agents, and other agents on the platform, to really realise the full potential they have."
New Relic's AI Monitoring function is embedded into its observability platform, offering extended insight into the performance of enterprise-grade generative AI applications that utilise large language models such as DeepSeek. The company's AI Monitoring has seen 30% growth in quarterly usage since its introduction, according to New Relic. Support for the Model Context Protocol has also been added, providing developers with more detailed diagnostic information for AI applications.
Platform enhancements
Customer needs and industry trends have driven the release of more than 25 new platform features over the last year. These updates aim to improve business and IT operation management and support specific verticals, including retail, healthcare, and media. Among the enhancements is what New Relic describes as the first intelligent streaming video observability solution for the industry.
The company also stresses its endorsement of open standards and customer choice, with full native support for OpenTelemetry (OTel) allowing integration of telemetry data from any source into the New Relic platform. Its platform operates under a usage-based pricing model to better align costs with the value provided.
New features have introduced further intelligence, exemplified by a Predictions engine which forecasts system problems to help maintain uptime and system performance. The platform also offers Cloud Cost Intelligence, providing granular views into multi-cloud spending trends.
