Numeracle has launched its corporate KYCaaS business identity verification service for organisations that need to verify the companies they work with.

The service is designed to assess whether a business is legitimate and operating as claimed, rather than simply confirming that it exists in official records. Numeracle said it built the offering from an internal vetting and verification system it has used for eight years to establish identities for more than 4,000 businesses.

The launch comes as companies face growing concern over synthetic identity fraud and the use of artificial intelligence to create false business profiles and fabricated supporting documents. Numeracle cited estimates that synthetic identity fraud is growing by about 16% a year, while AI-facilitated fraud losses in the United States are projected to reach USD $40 billion by 2027.

Many businesses still rely on one-off Know Your Business checks that confirm incorporation or registration details without testing whether an entity is actively trading legitimately or identifying who is behind it. Numeracle said that gap leaves organisations exposed to fraud and misuse across commercial relationships.

Identity checks

At the centre of the product is what Numeracle calls Business Liveness, a framework intended to move verification beyond static records. The approach examines behavioural signals, the people behind a business, operational consistency, and whether the entity appears suitable over time to access a given platform or service.

The platform also uses an AI-led review method called AI Agent Assist to analyse multiple data sources at once. Numeracle said this is intended to cut analysis time and reduce errors in reviews that might otherwise be handled manually.

Rebekah Johnson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Numeracle, said the service was developed in response to patterns the company had seen in business vetting. "AI allows businesses to create false fronts," Johnson said.

"Bad actors can hide in the open. They will show you whatever they think you need to see, and traditional verification tools will confirm it. A business can check every box on a static form while operating nothing like what it claims. That is exactly what Numeracle has seen over years of real-world vetting, and it is what drove us to build Business Liveness into our KYCaaS platform. Removing human bias from that evaluation and replacing subjective review with consistent, policy-driven analysis is how you get decisions you can actually stand behind," Johnson said.

Telecom focus

While the service is positioned for broader use across sectors, Numeracle highlighted telecoms as an area of immediate demand. Communications providers are under growing pressure to strengthen checks on the entities using voice and messaging networks, particularly as regulators examine customer and upstream provider verification rules.

The issue is tied to longstanding weaknesses in the voice network. Call authentication systems can confirm which carrier placed a call and what that carrier asserted about a customer, but they do not require verification of the customer's underlying identity.

Numeracle said its telecom module is intended to address that gap with communications-specific checks, including traffic profiles, enforcement history, and whether a business is authorised to use brand assets in outbound voice and messaging.

Brett Nemeroff, Vice President of Voice Engineering at Numeracle, said current industry practice often falls short. "Most carriers treat data collection as KYC - collect the information, check a box, and consider the obligation met. And for those that go a step further and validate some of what was collected, it still falls short," Nemeroff said.

"That gap is the root cause of fraud on the voice network, and AI has made it urgent. New rulemaking at the federal level is pointing toward a clear standard: ongoing, risk-based verification that traces accountability back to the originator. That is exactly what we built KYCaaS to deliver. Not passive data collection. Not a point-in-time check assigned an arbitrary reputation score. A living, corporate identity assessment that your team can stand behind when regulators ask. Telecom providers need a vetting partner that keeps up with the speed and sophistication of emerging threats and requirements, so they do not have to," Nemeroff said.

Anis Jaffer, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Numeracle, said the company sees wider demand beyond voice. "Numeracle's corporate KYCaaS was built to comprehensively vet a business across authoritative and non-authoritative data sources, industry-specific data attributes, and brand presence with behavioral indicators, synthesized into a single holistic analysis rather than a stack of reports someone has to reconcile manually," Jaffer said.

"We see the need for this layer across every channel where businesses interact at scale. Voice is where the regulatory urgency is most immediate right now, but the same gap in identity analysis exists in messaging and RCS, and anywhere a business needs to establish that the entity it is dealing with is real, active, and operating as it claims. As more enterprises adopt AI and deploy AI agents, we see the identity gap widening even more. Verifying an entity holistically at scale becomes even more critical," Jaffer said.

Numeracle said the service is generally available in the United States and is intended for organisations that need ongoing corporate identity verification throughout the life cycle of a business relationship. The company said it has built its position in communications identity since 2018.

Johnson said the product addresses a broader question facing business platforms and service providers. "Every platform, marketplace, and service that does business with other businesses faces the same foundational question: who is actually on the other side of this relationship?" she said.

"Identity is the layer that everything else depends on. Numeracle's KYCaaS is the result of what we've learned vetting and investigating business identities ourselves since 2018 - the bad actors evolved, and we evolved with them. When identity is incorrect or absent, fraud gets in, trust erodes, and the consequences extend far beyond any single transaction. KYCaaS exists because that foundation has been missing, and the cost of getting it wrong has never been higher," Johnson said.
