Nutanix named Leader again in 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant

Today

Nutanix has been designated as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed Hybrid Infrastructure, marking its third appearance in the Quadrant and the second time it has earned the Leader distinction.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant assesses vendors on their Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision within a specific technology market. Nutanix's reappointment as a Leader in Distributed Hybrid Infrastructure recognises its continued performance in these critical evaluation categories.

Assessment criteria

The evaluation was based on the company's Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP), which is designed to enable organisations to run applications and manage data across diverse environments. The platform supports a variety of public cloud services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and a public preview for Google Cloud, alongside compatibility with external storage and Kubernetes. The platform also provides options for deploying artificial intelligence workloads.

NCP is currently deployed by organisations worldwide, supporting sectors such as financial services, healthcare, public sector, manufacturing, and retail. According to the company, this wide adoption demonstrates its suitability for a range of complex operational requirements.

Leadership perspective

We feel our positioning on both vision and execution in this year's Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed Hybrid Infrastructure is a direct reflection of our relentless focus on innovation and customer success.

This statement was provided by Lee Caswell, Senior Vice President, Product & Solutions Marketing at Nutanix, regarding the recognition received in the report.

Customer experience

First Foundation Bank, based in California, is identified as one of the organisations utilising the Nutanix Cloud Platform. The bank leverages NCP to create a hybrid environment used for disaster recovery of its virtual desktop infrastructure, supporting business continuity and risk management needs.

Adrian S. Darmawan, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at First Foundation Bank, detailed several benefits of the implementation. He stated, "The most valued feature of NCP is its scalability. If there is a disaster, more machines can be spun up quickly."

Darmawan also highlighted the platform's impact on the bank's financial planning and operational flexibility, noting, "With NCP, our capex is also lower since it is elastic, and we can turn on our disaster recovery solution during tests or when it is actually needed. We also benefit from license portability because no matter where our machines or servers are located, we are able to license the compute and storage."

Industry context

Organisations operating in both traditional and modern application environments are increasingly opting for hybrid infrastructure solutions in order to achieve greater flexibility, optimise costs, and address evolving regulatory and performance requirements. Distributed hybrid infrastructure products such as Nutanix Cloud Platform are sought by customers aiming to integrate on-premise and cloud workloads within unified management frameworks.

The continued recognition by Gartner in the Magic Quadrant places Nutanix among a select group of vendors evaluated for leadership status, based on factors including product capabilities, market understanding, and the ability to meet the needs of global commercial customers.

Broader implications

Independent analyst firms, such as Gartner, provide Magic Quadrant analyses to assist organisations with technology selection by mapping the relative strengths of providers within different IT sectors. The evaluation criteria cited by Gartner included both the capacity to deliver on current operational requirements and to articulate and execute a strategic vision that addresses future infrastructure challenges.

This marks the second consecutive time Nutanix has achieved Leader status in the Distributed Hybrid Infrastructure Magic Quadrant, reinforcing its ongoing focus in the sector.
