Orbbec unveils Gemini 335Le camera & Pulsar SL450 LiDAR
Orbbec has announced the release of two new products: the Gemini 335Le 3D camera and the Pulsar SL450 LiDAR technology, enhancing their robotics and AI vision offerings.
The Gemini 335Le is introduced as the latest in Orbbec's Gemini 330 Series, featuring an Ethernet interface that complements existing USB3 and GMSL2 connectivity options. This extension means Orbbec's camera range can now be deployed over all three major industry interfaces, a first in the industry according to the company. The Gemini 335Le is engineered specifically for industrial robotic vision applications and offers industrial-grade interfaces facilitating stable and high-quality stereo visual data transmission.
Key features of the Gemini 335Le include the M12 X-Coded interface, which ensures simultaneous data and power delivery over long distances, and the M8 A-Coded interface, which supports DC power supply, multi-device synchronisation, and RS-485 communication. The camera is designed to perform reliably in harsh industrial settings, carrying an IP67 rating for resistance to dust, water, extreme temperatures, and varying lighting conditions. In terms of integration, it supports standard network protocols, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and offers a suite of tools for developers, including an open-source SDK and pre-integration with NVIDIA platforms.
The company also marks its entry into the LiDAR market with the release of the Pulsar SL450. This single-line LiDAR utilises direct Time of Flight (dToF) technology and offers a scanning range of 270 degrees and a detection capability of over 45 metres. It is designed for reliable positioning and navigation in robotics, logistics, and security applications. The Pulsar SL450 optimises mapping and navigation through high-density point cloud scanning and precise environmental perception, even under difficult conditions.
The Pulsar SL450 distinguishes itself with a scanning frequency up to 72 kHz and 0.075-degree angular resolution, enhancing its capability in detecting surfaces in intricate detail. Its design features a multi-echo function allowing accurate data feedback in environments with dust or fog, promoting consistent mapping and maintaining uniformity in map generation across multiple units.
Brad Suessmith, Robotics Sales Manager at Orbbec, commented: "We are pleased to launch the Gemini 335Le and Pulsar SL450... With the release of the Gemini 335Le incorporating Ethernet connectivity, Orbbec becomes the first in the industry to offer such comprehensive interface options. The versatility and flexibility provided by the Gemini 330 Series enables our customers to incorporate high-quality depth sensing into all of their robot designs, regardless of which interface they prefer to use."
On the introduction of the Pulsar SL450, Suessmith added: "ProMat 2025 is the perfect venue to debut our industrial LiDAR sensor, and we look forward to supporting advanced robotics navigation applications with the Pulsar SL450."
