OutSystems Agent Workbench drives AI automation in enterprises
OutSystems has reported uptake among enterprise customers for its Agent Workbench, a platform designed for the development and management of intelligent artificial intelligence (AI) agents in business environments.
The company stated that more than 5,500 agents are currently in development, supported by a network of nearly 1,500 certified developers.
OutSystems has described its strategy as building an open agentic ecosystem. Enterprises can deploy AI agents into a range of workflows, linking them to various large language models (LLMs) such as Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Cohere, Mistral, Databricks, AI2, IBM watsonx, Vertex AI custom models, and Hugging Face open source options. This setup allows teams to route, mix or swap models depending on requirements for accuracy, cost, or speed.
The company offers a growing library of pre-built agents for platforms including Google Calendar, Confluence, Notion, Trello, Asana, Monday.com, and Jira. These agents support automation, scheduling and other workflow-driven functions within enterprise tools.
"The enterprise AI race isn't won by faster experiments; it's won by building trusted AI-powered systems that scale," said Woodson Martin, CEO of OutSystems. "With Agent Workbench, enterprises are building an agentic future that connects data, managing the full agent lifecycle, and orchestrating human-AI collaboration to transform how work gets done and deliver unprecedented business value."
Enterprise deployments
Several organisations have adopted Agent Workbench to automate tasks and streamline operations.
Axos Bank has used the platform to build an intelligent log analysis agent that interprets error logs and gives real-time recommendations, reducing the amount of manual analysis required. The bank has also implemented a document mapping agent to enhance data entry accuracy and minimise repetitive work.
"Our work with OutSystems on Agent Workbench is a significant step in our AI strategy. We're expanding the use of AI capabilities within OutSystems to realize immediate gains, without needing to invest in specialized AI roles," said Kevin Hearn, SVP, Head of Consumer Bank Development at Axos Bank.
Thermo Fisher Scientific has used Agent Workbench to develop a customer escalation agent. This solution processes unstructured data from customer queries, allowing the company to automate triage, speed up resolution times and limit manual intervention in the process.
Ascot Insurance is applying the platform to its Avail Claims system. Here, an AI agent assesses key performance indicators (KPIs) by interpreting agent activity logs and notes, unlocking previously inaccessible data. The new workflow replaces legacy processes that were unable to process unstructured information.
MAGnet Auctions created an AI agent with OutSystems to improve its vehicle entry quality assurance process. The new system automatically identifies and reads odometer photos, comparing the extracted mileage against the database record to highlight discrepancies. The automation led to a more than 90% reduction in the volume of photographs requiring manual review, enabling staff to focus on higher-value tasks.
