Progress unveils Agentic RAG to make trustworthy AI accessible

Today

Progress Software has announced the launch of Progress Agentic RAG, a software-as-a-service platform designed to make trustworthy generative AI accessible to organisations across a range of sizes.

Managing and analysing data

The introduction of Progress Agentic RAG follows the company's acquisition of Nuclia and adds to Progress Software's range of data management, retrieval and contextualisation solutions aimed at helping businesses derive value from both structured and unstructured data. The company states that the software addresses growing challenges related to the management and analysis of large volumes of information in different formats and languages.

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is considered a significant method for improving the reliability of generative AI outputs by grounding responses in business or organisational data. Progress Software claims its new offering addresses two persistent challenges: the need for trustworthy AI outcomes and the technical barriers that can make deployment complex and cost-prohibitive.

Yogesh Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Progress Software, said, "Progress Agentic RAG is redefining how businesses interact with their data. By combining agentic intelligence with retrieval-augmented generation, we're making AI practical, scalable, and trustworthy for every organisation. This platform unlocks the power of unstructured data across formats and languages through verifiable, no-code AI search. We believe Progress Agentic RAG is the easiest-to-use solution on the market today for helping businesses extract real value from GenAI."

The platform's design, according to Progress Software, focuses on ease of use and quick deployment. Its SaaS model allows organisations to integrate the technology without significant upfront investment or specialist technical skills. This approach, the company contends, makes AI more accessible to businesses that may lack dedicated teams for advanced technology rollouts.

Platform features

Agentic RAG supports multiple data types and formats, ingesting information from documents, video, audio and more, and indexes it with the help of AI agents. These agents are designed to retrieve and reason over content, providing what Progress describes as transparent and precise responses to user queries. The platform also features a no-code RAG pipeline, designed to let users set up the system without custom development work.

Among the key technical features highlighted are multi-model integration, allowing compatibility with a range of enterprise large language models (LLMs), and NucliaDB-based storage, which provides semantic search, keyword search, metadata search, and multi-modal understanding required to generate contextualised results. The platform also includes RAG Evaluation Metrics (REMi), which support traceable and evaluable AI outputs.

The company notes that Progress Agentic RAG is suitable for a variety of organisations, "from small businesses to global enterprises," and positions the platform as a tool for departments such as legal, sales, and customer support to accelerate research, improve client onboarding, manage knowledge, and automate customer engagement.

"Progress Agentic RAG, which we started using as Nuclia, has fundamentally changed how we access and act on information across our organisation," said Patrick Garcia, Chief Digital, AI & Innovation Officer, SRS Distribution. "Its ability to deliver fast, accurate, and verifiable insights from our unstructured data has been a game-changer for productivity and decision-making."

Reflecting on the wider market changes as generative AI is adopted at scale, Amy Machado, Senior Research Manager at IDC, said, "Agentic AI is reshaping how organisations interact with data and drive decision-making. Cost-effective solutions like Progress Agentic RAG that are built for easier deployment can help businesses unlock productivity and innovation and be at the forefront of this transformation - regardless of their size."

Industry adoption

According to Progress Software, Agentic RAG is already in use across several industries. Reported applications include streamlining sales through AI-driven product recommendations, powering automated customer support, and enabling legal teams to conduct detailed semantic research. Other use cases cited involve secure querying of sensitive data, preserving institutional knowledge, and expediting internal onboarding processes.

The platform is now available as a self-service offering, with pricing starting at $700 per month. This pricing structure, the company states, is designed to provide small businesses and individual departments access to AI technology for transforming unstructured data into actionable insights.
