PropUp launches high-definition video & time-stamped inspections
PropUp has announced significant new features to its Inspection App, introducing high-definition video inspections and time-stamped photo capabilities aimed at improving speed and accuracy for maintenance teams in the rental housing sector.
The new functionality enables teams to document inspections with more detail and accuracy, reducing the average inspection time from 30 minutes to as little as 3 minutes. According to PropUp, the addition of these tools is expected to reduce the frequency of technician call-backs by more than 50%.
Customer-led development
The upgrades were developed in response to a request from Point Guard Management and were delivered from conceptualisation to launch within 31 days. The swift turnaround time was highlighted by PropUp as part of its focus on responding directly to client requirements.
"We are constantly listening to our clients and building solutions they actually need," said William Gottfried, CEO of PropUp. "This Inspection App update is a perfect example of that commitment. With HD video capture and time-stamped photography, our users can dramatically increase the accuracy of their inspections, streamline move-ins and move-outs, and protect themselves from unreasonable disputes."
The Inspection App update allows users to record unlimited high-definition video content directly within the mobile app's inspection workflow. This is particularly relevant for documenting move-outs, preventative maintenance, asset tracking, resident concerns, incident reports, and due diligence walks. PropUp states that having video evidence improves diagnostic accuracy as it can record real-time details that static images may miss.
At the same time, all photos taken within the app are now automatically time-stamped and dated. This addition allows maintenance teams and property managers to verify inspection timing, location, and condition with increased precision, differentiating in-app photos from those uploaded manually. According to PropUp, this functionality not only assists in internal documentation but also provides verifiable evidence to resolve resident disputes confidently.
Impact on operations
The tools are intended to streamline high-volume inspections, such as move-ins and move-outs, by reducing the time required while simultaneously increasing detail and accuracy. PropUp has stated these upgrades will help operators to verify inspection processes, reduce the likelihood of disputes, and improve the overall quality of documentation.
Tim Farha, President of Point Guard Management, commented on the collaboration and resulting changes:
"We brought a real-world challenge to PropUp, and in just a month, they delivered a solution that will make a big impact across our portfolio. In my experience with software providers, this kind of responsiveness is rare and invaluable."
The integration of video and time-stamped photo features represents PropUp's ongoing strategy to increase efficiency and accountability for property managers and owner-operators. The company offers a wider platform that integrates with residential property management software, featuring tools intended to improve operational performance, such as customisable key performance indicators (KPIs), maintenance centralisation, and vacancy loss reduction.
PropUp's suite is designed for quick adoption by teams, aiming to drive operational results, track timelines, and open new opportunities for revenue. The introduction of these functionalities follows feedback from users and is intended to address challenges related to maintenance verification, documentation, and dispute resolution within the rental housing sector.
