Quintauris & Everspin partner to boost RISC-V automotive safety
Quintauris and Everspin Technologies have announced a strategic partnership to integrate Everspin's magnetoresistive RAM (MRAM) technology into the Quintauris RISC-V ecosystem, targeting improved reliability and safety for automotive platforms.
The collaboration is intended to address critical requirements in automotive, industrial, and edge computing applications, particularly where data persistence, integrity, low latency, and security are essential.
As part of the partnership, Everspin's MRAM technologies will be combined with Quintauris' RISC-V-based reference architectures and real-time platforms. This integration aims to ensure that memory subsystems within these platforms can achieve high levels of performance and functional safety, meeting the rigorous demands of safety-focused markets.
Everspin emphasises that its commitment to the automotive sector includes more than just advanced technology. The company cites its focus on obtaining necessary certifications, maintaining manufacturing quality, ensuring long-term supply, and driving continuous quality improvements as core areas that support the requirements of automotive manufacturers and align closely with Quintauris' aims.
Pedro Lopez, Market Strategy Officer at Quintauris, commented on the value of having Everspin as a partner within the RISC-V ecosystem. He stated:
"Everspin's leadership in MRAM and their track record of over 200 million products deployed make them a strong addition to our ecosystem. Together, we are closing the gap between innovation and dependability, enabling RISC-V to be confidently adopted in next-generation automotive programs."
David Schrenk, Vice President of Business Development at Everspin Technologies, highlighted the critical memory demands of platforms built on the RISC-V instruction set architecture.
"RISC-V is opening new doors in safety-critical computing, but it also demands memory that can match its performance and reliability. By integrating our MRAM into the Quintauris platform, we're helping developers build systems that retain data integrity under power loss, radiation or extreme temperatures, without compromising speed or security. This partnership strengthens the foundation for scalable, dependable platforms that will shape the future of automotive electronics."
RISC-V is an open standard instruction set architecture that has seen growing adoption in the semiconductor industry, particularly for applications requiring customisation and flexibility in processor design. However, moving these platforms into automotive programs requires robust subsystems capable of meeting the functional safety and reliability standards expected in the industry.
The Quintauris ecosystem is geared towards making RISC-V commercially viable for automotive and other high-demand sectors by developing compatibility profiles, reference architectures, and essential software components. Everspin's MRAM will provide non-volatile memory that can withstand challenging operating conditions, such as power loss or exposure to radiation and high temperatures, which are common concerns in automotive and industrial environments.
Everspin cites its deployment of over 200 million MRAM products in various markets, positioning its technology as a mature solution for sectors where data retention and system integrity are crucial.
The partnership is expected to enable manufacturers and developers working within the RISC-V framework to design systems that deliver on the most stringent reliability and safety requirements, specifically for use in next-generation automotive applications where flash memory may not suffice.
