Radix, Celanese & Cognite launch AI for industry boost

Yesterday

Radix and Celanese have announced a collaboration with Cognite to develop JO.AI, a generative AI-powered solution aimed at enhancing operations in asset-intensive industries.

The solution, JO.AI, emerged from Radix's work with Celanese and is built on the Cognite Data Fusion platform, which manages complex industrial data. JO.AI is designed to help manufacturers better utilise their data for improved productivity and operational excellence.

Sameer Purao, Senior Vice President and CIO at Celanese, stated, "AI has proven to be a valuable business catalyst in today's dynamic manufacturing landscape, offering unparalleled opportunities for optimisation and innovation. We developed JO.AI – in collaboration with Radix, on top of the robust data foundation provided by Cognite Data Fusion – to harness the power of AI to improve efficiency, reduce costs and elevate overall productivity."

"Additionally, AI enables smart production through real-time data analysis, facilitating data-driven decisions, process optimisation and swift response to market demand. Incorporating AI into our manufacturing operations is not just a technological advancement, but also a competitive advantage."

Bill Hendricks, President of Cognite Americas, commented on the role of data in digital transformation, saying, "Digital transformation, especially with AI-powered solutions, is only as strong as the data foundation it's built upon."

"Cognite accelerates time-to-value by enabling seamless integration and management of complex industrial data, providing the essential infrastructure for innovative applications like JO.AI. Working alongside a forward-thinking partner like Radix, who shares our commitment to pushing the boundaries of industrial innovation, we empower organisations to unlock unprecedented value from their data and drive real operational impact."

JO.AI aims to assist operators and engineers through four main areas of application: optimised operator rounds, data-driven checklist management, balanced workload, and streamlined maintenance. This includes ensuring operations focus on appropriate checklists, recommending checklist item frequencies, identifying areas with frequent issues, and suggesting resource plans for maintenance.

"JO.AI represents a significant leap forward in the application of AI for industrial settings and asset-intensive industries," said Alex Clausbruch, CEO of Radix North America. "Combining Radix's expertise in AI and software development with Celanese's deep industry knowledge, we created a solution that not only addresses current data utilisation challenges but also unlocks new levels of efficiency and optimisation. We believe JO.AI will be a game-changer for asset-intensive industries."

Justin Conroy, Vice President, Digital Product Portfolio at Radix, also emphasised the collaborative nature of the development, "This JO.AI development is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. Celanese and Radix worked closely to ensure JO.AI solution is not just about technology but also empowering teams with insights to make better decisions and drive real business value."
