Reconext integrates IT asset disposition with ServiceNow

Sun, 23rd Nov 2025

Reconext has introduced a direct integration between its end-of-life IT asset disposition (ITAD) solutions and the ServiceNow digital workflow platform. This connection aims to streamline the management of IT assets when they reach end-of-life and support global enterprises in maintaining complete oversight of asset retirement processes.

Workflow continuity

Enterprises frequently use ServiceNow to manage operational workflows, asset tracking, and approvals. However, IT asset disposition has often required teams to exit the platform, relying on emails, separate spreadsheets, and external shipping portals. The new integration allows all end-of-life processes, from request initiation to logistics and final disposal, to take place entirely within the ServiceNow platform.

The process starts with a request created within ServiceNow. Logistics for the transition, managed by Onepak's ReturnCentre, are then initiated. This includes automation for shipping, scheduling, and routing, with updates fed directly back into the ServiceNow environment for full visibility at each stage.

Once assets arrive at any of Reconext's global facilities, data on intake, testing, data wiping, grading, and eventual disposition is synchronised with the same system used for original tracking. This removes the need for separate reconciliations and manual data entry, particularly for organisations operating on a multinational scale or across multiple business units.

Chain of custody

Maintaining a clear chain of custody is a key requirement for organisations with compliance and governance commitments. Traditional updates via PDFs or emails can hinder administrative oversight. Through the integration, custody events-such as pickups, transit, arrivals, and processing actions-are automatically captured and made visible to administrators in real time. This creates an ongoing, transparent audit trail without extra manual work.

Asset records synchronisation

Accurate IT asset inventories can become difficult to maintain as businesses expand internationally and ITAD processes take place beyond their core platforms. With ReturnCentre Automate, updates are pushed directly into customer Configuration Management Database (CMDB) or Hardware Asset Management (HAM) tables as assets pass through logistics and recovery. This helps global IT teams retain consistent data integrity and reduces the time required for follow-up corrections after large-scale retirements.

Reporting and sustainability

Many organisations now include metrics on device reuse, responsible routing, transport impact, and downstream disposition in their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. The integration supports these requirements by automatically centralising supporting data-certificates, outcomes, and documentation-back into ServiceNow. Sustainability teams can access consolidated, up-to-date reports without the need to compile data from multiple sources each quarter.

Customisable workflows

Enterprise IT environments often require flexibility, supporting processes like employee offboarding, equipment lease returns, mass redeployments, multi-site collections, and one-off decommissioning projects. The integration delivers this flexibility by enabling teams to configure different workflows based on regional or operational requirements, running these consistently within ServiceNow.

Lifecycle connectivity

"By linking the ServiceNow platform directly to Onepak and Reconext's global network, companies gain a complete view of their end-of-life activity in the same system they already use for every other stage. It simplifies reporting. It strengthens accountability. And it helps global IT teams run ITAD with far less friction," said Ian Lovell, Vice President of Strategy & Technical Solutions, Reconext.
