Runpod has appointed Brian Erickson as Chief Financial Officer and has passed USD $325 million in annual recurring revenue.

The appointment comes as the AI cloud provider reports nearly threefold revenue growth since January, when annual recurring revenue was USD $120 million.

More than 1.2 million developers now use Runpod's platform, up from about 495,000 a year earlier. September was its biggest month on record, with more than 95,000 new sign-ups.

Erickson joins from Suzy, where he served as Chief Financial Officer. Before that, he was Chief Financial Officer at Transfix, where he helped steer the business through a sale.

Earlier in his career, he held senior finance leadership roles at DigitalOcean and worked in finance at Amazon and Microsoft, with experience tied to their cloud computing operations.

His appointment gives Runpod a finance chief with a background in software and cloud infrastructure as it manages a larger customer base and higher revenue levels. Recent growth has been driven by developer adoption and rising demand from larger organisations for AI infrastructure.

According to the company, organisations using Runpod include Sony, Toyota and Intel. It also named Columbia University, Cornell University and UCLA, alongside AI companies including Deep Cogito, Rendair and Nodalview.

Runpod said its service is used across AI development tasks including training, fine-tuning, inference and deployment. The company positions itself as a platform where developers can keep the same infrastructure as projects move from experimentation to wider use.

Finance hire

The new finance chief pointed to the platform's developer base and its expansion into larger customers.

"Runpod has built something rare in cloud infrastructure: a platform that developers genuinely want to use, with enterprise adoption following naturally from that demand. Having spent much of my career helping cloud and technology companies scale, I see a tremendous opportunity to build on that foundation. I'm excited to help Runpod translate its developer momentum into a durable, category-defining business," said Brian Erickson, Chief Financial Officer at Runpod.

Chief Executive Officer Zhen Lu linked the hire to the operational demands created by the company's recent expansion.

"We've grown nearly threefold this year because developers are building real businesses on Runpod, and those businesses are scaling fast. That creates enormous opportunity, but also demands a different level of financial and operational discipline. Brian has helped some of the world's most successful cloud companies grow. He brings the experience to strengthen our financial and operational discipline as we scale," Lu said.

Runpod operates in a crowded market for AI computing infrastructure, where providers are trying to attract developers early and retain them as workloads expand. Its latest figures suggest it has rapidly increased both developer sign-ups and recurring revenue over the course of the year.

Erickson holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Washington.
