Siemens Techcellence Awards spotlight digital innovation leaders
Siemens Digital Industries Software has named the recipients of its second annual Techcellence Awards, recognising organisations and individuals within its community for achievements in digital transformation, sustainability practices, and innovation.
The Techcellence Awards programme, which began in 2024 and continued into 2025, highlights those who have driven change through implementation of Siemens technologies. Award winners are granted VIP attendance passes for the Realize LIVE 2026 event to be held in Detroit.
Robert Jones, Chief Revenue Officer at Siemens Digital Industries Software, commented on the role of the award winners, stating, "Every day, our customers are writing the future of industry through groundbreaking digital innovations. The Siemens' Techcellence Awards shine a spotlight on these pioneers who aren't just embracing transformation - they're leading it. From sustainable solutions to revolutionary applications of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, these visionaries are building a powerful community that extends far beyond America. They're not just changing industries; they're changing the world."
The Sustainability Impact award is designed to honour an organisation demonstrating a significant commitment to sustainability by applying Siemens technologies in ways that yield positive environmental and social results, including decarbonisation and advances in energy efficiency covering the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Emissions Scopes 1, 2 and 3.
The 2025 Sustainability Impact award has been presented to BorgWarner, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. BorgWarner provides mobility solutions spanning electric, hybrid, and combustion vehicle technology for the global automotive market. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2035 while advancing both foundational and electrified technologies for vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
The Digital Transformation award recognises an enterprise that has integrated digital technologies comprehensively, with a strategic vision for transformation and the ability to streamline processes at scale. This year, the award goes to SENAI, the largest professional and technological education institution in Latin America, training over 2.3 million workers each year.
SENAI-ISI's work on the Techub project was highlighted as pivotal. The initiative, focused on smart manufacturing of lithium batteries in Brazil, included the launch of the country's first national lithium battery production line, which enables local manufacture of battery units for hybrid electric vehicles. The project aligns short-term initiatives with long-term ambitions to create a digitally enabled, closed-loop manufacturing ecosystem.
The Community Champion award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions by sharing expertise around Siemens technology, actively supporting peers, and participating in public forums. This year's recipient, Peter Mendez, Solution Architect at General Atomics, serves as a Mendix Solution Architect and participates in the Mendix Pioneer Program. Mendez has experience programming in languages including Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, and G-Code, and is recognised as a leading contributor in the Mendix community, frequently providing guidance and insight to Siemens customers.
The Innovation Leader award is aimed at Siemens customers who have demonstrated creative uses of Siemens technology to effect substantial transformation within their sectors. Sibo Chou, Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman, was recognised for the integration of Siemens' Process Simulate with motion capture technology, resulting in the Highly Immersive Virtual Environment (HIVE). This platform allows engineers to carry out early feasibility and sustainability-focused design assessments within a virtual space, prior to commencing physical production.
Through collaboration with Siemens, Chou improved motion simulation fidelity, enabling more precise and realistic virtual prototyping. The rollout of HIVE at Northrop Grumman has resulted in notable advancements in product development, allowing design challenges to be identified early, reducing both time to market and the likelihood of costly rework.
Winners and finalists for the Techcellence Awards in Europe will be announced at Realize LIVE Europe, which will take place in Amsterdam during late June and early July.
