Tanium boosts AI features & extends support for OT & mobile
Tanium has announced a series of new capabilities that expand its use of artificial intelligence and broaden support for operational technology and mobile endpoints. The enhancements are designed to help organisations move towards more autonomous operations in their IT and security environments.
Agentic AI features
The company introduced Tanium Ask, an agentic AI-based functionality that brings AI-driven workflows into its platform. This feature is aimed at improving operational efficiency by allowing administrators to discover data, manage software, summarise dashboards and access documentation within a unified interface. Tanium Ask also serves security operations teams, helping automate alert investigations and produce actionable recommendations to support incident handling.
Tanium's AI Agent for ServiceNow is another new addition. Embedded into ServiceNow's Now Assist, the tool retrieves real-time data such as user activities, application versions and device statuses. This enables administrators to receive accurate answers and perform tasks such as device reboots or software removals directly within the chat interface, reducing the time needed for traditional investigations.
"Tanium continues to push the boundaries of what's possible by leveraging AI and real-time endpoint intelligence to empower organizations to move from reactive to autonomous operations," said Matt Quinn, Chief Technology Officer, Tanium.
Expanded endpoint management
Tanium is extending its platform beyond traditional IT infrastructures. With Tanium Endpoint Management for Operational Technology (OT), the company now provides real-time visibility and oversight of OT assets such as human-machine interfaces and programmable logic controllers. This integration delivers unified monitoring across IT and industrial domains, supporting resilience and security for critical infrastructure.
The platform now includes support for mobile endpoints, beginning with Apple devices. This addition enables firms to maintain visibility, enforce configurations and conduct remote actions across Macs, iPhones and iPads.
Integration with Microsoft Intune is another enhancement.
The Tanium Connector for Microsoft Intune brings together device telemetry from Intune-managed endpoints, offering unified reporting and management that addresses common issues arising from fragmented endpoint environments.
Security operations updates
Tanium is also introducing Tanium Jump Gate, a capability built on the firm's existing client architecture. Jump Gate is designed to enforce Zero Trust principles by limiting standing access and providing just-in-time, just-enough access to sensitive systems. It offers real-time oversight to support security teams overseeing privileged access.
The company has also launched Tanium HuntIQ. This feature involves embedding Tanium experts within customer environments to enhance security operations, strengthen resilience and boost the detection of hard-to-find threats. HuntIQ aims to help organisations close visibility gaps and improve their overall security maturity.
Platform aims
Tanium's latest developments aim to address the increasing complexity of enterprise technology landscapes by delivering unified management and security across IT, OT and mobile domains. This includes eliminating blind spots and supporting quicker decision-making in large-scale environments.
"Unveiling these innovations at our Converge conference is especially meaningful - it's where our community comes together to shape the future of autonomous IT. Leveraging our unique linear chain architecture, these advancements deliver end-to-end outcomes at speed and scale - all through a single, unified platform," said Quinn.
