Tricentis unveils Tosca's cloud-based automation upgrades

Tue, 8th Apr 2025

Tricentis has announced the introduction of new cloud-based capabilities for its AI-powered, model-based test automation solution, Tricentis Tosca.

The newly-released cloud features aim to enhance test automation while mitigating risks associated with critical business functionalities. Key highlights of the update include an enhanced test data management system and a redesigned test case design solution named Business Flow Designer.

Tricentis Tosca now offers a cloud-based test data management feature that automates data provisioning. This feature allows users to easily access accurate and consistent test data, thereby alleviating the traditionally manual and time-consuming process of test data provisioning. The automated process is intended to free up valuable resources which testers can then redirect towards strategic initiatives.

The new Business Flow Designer feature provides a visual flow-chart interface that facilitates collaboration between business and quality assurance (QA) teams. This tool enables users to create tests that are aligned with business objectives, ensuring that critical workflows are continuously validated against business goals, rather than merely focusing on technical functions.

Adding to these capabilities, the update introduces zero-footprint execution, designed to alleviate resource burdens typically encountered with large-scale test executions. By utilising zero-footprint execution in combination with Tosca's model-based approach, organisations benefit from simplified test design and maintenance options that are fully accessible via the cloud.

The suite of new advanced cloud capabilities includes features such as advanced test authoring with reusable test step blocks and granular module control, zero-footprint execution supported by Elastic Execution Agents, and comprehensive test data automation that removes the need for manual test data creation. Furthermore, real-time dashboards provide insights into test execution progress and quality metrics, assisting users in making data-driven decisions.

Additional enhancements include low-footprint automation, which reduces infrastructure management costs, and expanded support for end-to-end testing across diverse technologies like Mobile, PDF, IBTA, and Remote Terminal. Tricentis also announced upcoming generative AI capabilities and key integrations across its portfolio.

Mav Turner, Chief Product and Strategy Officer at Tricentis, commented, "Tosca revolutionised test automation with model-based testing, and now we're extending that innovation to the cloud—introducing cutting-edge capabilities designed for modern QA teams. This release gives our customers a more streamlined and efficient way to manage test data, design test cases that cover business-critical functions, and scale test execution in the cloud without the need for costly infrastructure."
