Uptick has opened an office in Denver, expanding the fire inspection software company's North American presence.

The move comes as Uptick plans to grow its US team by 50% by 2027, after building a North American customer base of more than 200 companies in less than two years.

Founded in Australia, the company sells software for fire inspections and job management. Its systems are now used by more than 1,000 customers globally, covering more than 2.7 million buildings across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, the US and Canada.

North America has become a key focus as Uptick adapts its software to the fire protection market's regulatory demands. In the US alone, there are 43,000 Authorities Having Jurisdiction, each with its own reporting requirements, while states enforce different editions of relevant standards.

That complexity has helped create a niche market for specialist software providers. Fire protection accounts for about 3% of the roughly $3 trillion global facilities management spend, according to figures cited by Uptick, as investment activity in the sector rises.

Uptick said merger and acquisition activity in fire protection increased by 66.7% in 2025. Backing from PSG has also supported the company as it expands its US operation and commits more resources to domestic research and development.

US growth

The Denver office is in the Platte River Rowing Club building on Platte Street. The hub will support customers across the US and give Uptick access to a larger pool of technology workers as it expands its local product and commercial teams.

Uptick's US headcount has risen to more than 40 employees over the past two years. The planned 50% increase signals a continued push to build a larger operational base in the region, rather than serving North America solely from overseas offices.

Its software is designed specifically for fire inspection and maintenance work, covering scheduling, reporting, compliance records, quoting and asset tracking. According to the company, it also includes a mobile application for technicians and a customer portal for building owners.

Uptick argues that many operators in the fire protection sector still rely on spreadsheets, paper-based reporting and tools designed for other parts of field service. That leaves room for software tailored to the inspection and compliance demands of fire safety work, where reporting standards can vary widely by jurisdiction and asset type.

Aidan Lister outlined the company's view of the market as it opened the Denver office.

"The fire protection sector hasn't seen the love that others have because the industry is complex and the market is relatively small. Uptick built a field servicing product that rivals the billion-dollar general software companies in features, but caters to the complex requirements of North American fire protection companies. With our rapidly expanding Denver hub, we're closer to our customers and better positioned to tap into top tech talent to continue developing the software they rely on," said Aidan Lister, CEO of Uptick.

Customer view

Uptick's North American customer base includes businesses using the software to consolidate inspection, reporting and field operations into one system.

"Uptick enables our small team to run like a much bigger operation. The software is intuitive and the support behind it is incredibly responsive. Most importantly, having a single system for inspections, reporting, and field work has taken a lot of friction out of our day so we can prioritize our customers and keep growing," said Courtney Dorrance, owner of Bighorn Fire Protection.

The wider investment case for the sector has also drawn interest from private equity groups focused on compliance-heavy service industries with recurring work and fragmented local markets.

"In our view, recent institutional capital investment across the fire safety and compliance sector in North America underscores the mission-critical nature of the services provided while creating significant demand for technology that is purpose-built to help technicians work more efficiently and companies scale more effectively. This is why we are thrilled to partner with Uptick to accelerate its North American expansion to help modernize how the fire safety and compliance industry operates," said Tanner Austin, principal at PSG.
