Veeam brings integrated data resilience to ServiceNow

Wed, 17th Dec 2025

Veeam has launched a new application for ServiceNow that embeds its data protection management inside the ServiceNow platform, in a move that targets customers in highly regulated industries and large enterprises.

The Veeam App for ServiceNow connects the Veeam Data Platform with ServiceNow's workflows. It integrates backup and recovery orchestration into existing IT service management processes. The app is now listed in the ServiceNow Store and is available at no extra cost for customers of Veeam Data Platform Advanced and Premium editions.

Veeam positions the product as a way for IT and security teams to monitor and automate data protection from within ServiceNow. Users can run policy-driven backup and recovery tasks through familiar ServiceNow interfaces. The app sits natively on the ServiceNow AI Platform.

The integration focuses on bi-directional synchronisation between the two systems. Veeam says this allows real-time status updates and unified workflows across both environments. ServiceNow users can see Veeam job status and events without switching tools.

Focus on resilience

Veeam, which describes itself as a data resilience specialist, is pitching the app at organisations where uptime and compliance are key concerns. These include sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and financial services.

The company says the app supports decentralised backup management. Operational teams can request or manage protection for their own applications through ServiceNow. Central IT functions retain control over policies and security settings.

Veeam also highlights incident response integration. Backup and recovery events in Veeam can create incidents inside ServiceNow automatically. This links data protection activities with standard IT service processes.

Auditing and reporting form another strand of the release. The app generates automated compliance documentation and audit trails. These records address internal governance needs and external regulatory requirements.

John Jester, Chief Revenue Officer at Veeam, set out the company's view of the market. "In today's digital landscape, everything depends on data - especially the workflows that drive modern business operations," said John Jester, Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Veeam. "Data Resilience means ensuring all organizational data is protected, so business can continue uninterrupted, no matter the circumstances. By uniting Veeam's secure backup and resilience features with ServiceNow ITSM automation, we enable customers to simplify operations, accelerate recovery, and stay prepared for audits in an increasingly complex regulatory environment."

ServiceNow partnership

The launch strengthens Veeam's partnership with ServiceNow. It also extends ServiceNow's ecosystem in the data protection segment. The app uses ServiceNow's native user and group management for access control. Organisations can apply role-based access to backup policies, jobs, and data within existing ServiceNow structures.

Alix Douglas, Group Vice President, Partner Solutions at ServiceNow, said the tie-up reflects a shared focus on specific customer issues. "Successful partnerships are built on a shared vision and a joint commitment to solving real business challenges at hand," said Alix Douglas, Group Vice President, Partner Solutions, ServiceNow. "Veeam App for ServiceNow gives customers powerful new ways to further protect data in highly regulated sectors. This collaboration is only the beginning of empowering organizations to thrive in today's dynamic business environment."

The companies say the integration also supports what they describe as organisational intelligence. Veeam data flows into ServiceNow. This provides additional context for operational dashboards and analytics already in use on the ServiceNow platform.

Automation and response

Automation is a central feature of the new product. The app can create and update backup tasks based on defined policies. It also records actions and outcomes for later review.

Veeam states that customers can reduce manual intervention in backup-related incidents. The app aims to cut the time between incident creation and resolution. It also records the full chain of events from backup failure or alert through to closure, which increases traceability.

The app's bi-directional synchronisation maintains consistent data between Veeam and ServiceNow. Changes in job status, incidents, or policies in one system appear in the other. This reduces the need for duplicate data entry by operations staff.

For access control, the app integrates with ServiceNow's existing user and group model. Organisations can assign who can request, approve, or modify backups through familiar ServiceNow roles. This allows backup tasks to sit within broader approval workflows.

Regulated sectors in view

The companies are targeting users that face heavy audit and compliance workloads. These include enterprises that must provide detailed evidence of data protection processes and outcomes. Automated documentation in the app records what backups ran, what failed, and what responses took place.

Veeam says this level of documentation supports regulatory reporting. It also supports internal risk and governance reviews.

The app is available now through the ServiceNow Store for customers of Veeam Data Platform Advanced and Premium editions. Veeam says it will continue to work with ServiceNow on further joint solutions in data resilience and workflow automation.
