Wasabi partners with USA Rugby, expanding cloud in sports market
Wasabi Technologies has announced a partnership to become the Official Cloud Storage Partner of USA Rugby.
The agreement marks an expansion of Wasabi's sports sponsorship portfolio, which already includes collaborations with several prominent teams such as the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club.
Sponsorship details
As a result of the partnership, Wasabi's branding will appear on the front of the jerseys for both the men's and women's USA Rugby National Teams during the summer and for the remainder of the 2025 season. This initiative marks the first league-level sponsorship for Wasabi and demonstrates an increased commitment to supporting women's sports across the United States.
Wasabi Technologies provides cloud storage solutions aimed at industries that manage large volumes of media content, including sports and entertainment sectors. Its services are designed to offer fast and predictable cloud storage for organisations looking to efficiently archive growing amounts of digital material.
USA Rugby joins Wasabi's group of sponsorship partners, as both organisations focus on digital transformation and technology adoption to drive ongoing development and engagement. The partnership aims to support USA Rugby as it continues to grow its fan base and prepare for significant upcoming events, including hosting the Men's and Women's Rugby World Cup in 2031 and 2033, following the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Statements
"With digital transformation being top of mind for all sports organisations, we can't think of a better partner than Wasabi to innovate alongside," said USA Rugby CEO, Bill Goren. "Wasabi has established itself as a true industry leader, and we are eager to work with them to mutually drive growth both on and off the rugby pitch."
Michael Welts, Chief Marketing Officer at Wasabi Technologies, commented on the partnership's global context and its importance for Wasabi's brand expansion.
"As Wasabi continues our rapid global expansion, we're proud to partner with USA Rugby, an organisation that is growing exponentially with a fan base that's building momentum faster than ever," said Michael Welts. "We look forward to seeing our logo displayed prominently on both the men's and women's team jerseys and guiding them on their digital innovation journey."
Partnership context
USA Rugby, established in 1975 as the National Governing Body for rugby in America, oversees four senior national teams alongside youth, high school, college, and age-grade programmes. The organisation has more than 100,000 active members and is responsible for promoting the sport at all competitive levels across the country.
For Wasabi Technologies, the new partnership reflects a strategic alignment with organisations focused on managing substantial media assets and investing in digital infrastructure to support growth and engagement. Wasabi's storage platform is designed to eliminate unpredictable costs and vendor restrictions often associated with traditional cloud storage providers.
The partnership will see Wasabi working directly with USA Rugby on digital initiatives that aim to support the management, preservation, and utilisation of the increasing volume of digital content generated by sporting bodies.
Wasabi continues to pursue partnerships with organisations aiming to make the most of their data assets for operational and fan engagement purposes, broadening its reach within the global sports and entertainment landscape.
