Wipro Ventures backs SquareX to boost enterprise browser security
Wipro Ventures has formed a strategic partnership with SquareX, a specialist in browser security, to address the increasing concern of browser-based cyber threats. The deal sees Wipro Ventures invest in SquareX's Series A funding round, reinforcing browser security as a central issue for organisations facing complex digital risks.
Browser risks
Browsers have become a key target for cyber attackers, serving as the initial entry point for many threats. Traditional enterprise security tools such as SASE, SSE, and endpoint detection and response often lack direct visibility into browser activity. As a result, attacks such as Last Mile Reassembly and data splicing have emerged, capable of bypassing existing defences.
SquareX addresses this vulnerability by offering a browser extension that enables detection and response capabilities within any mainstream browser. The extension secures browsers against threats such as malicious extensions, rogue AI agents, and identity-focused attacks, providing a layer of protection without requiring organisations to deploy separate enterprise browsers for their users.
Investment focus
Wipro Ventures' decision to back SquareX follows increasing demand from its enterprise clients for stronger browser-level security solutions. The move signals Wipro's intention to expand its cybersecurity offerings, ensuring customers can defend against evolving internet-based threats targeting remote and hybrid workforces.
"Browser security has become a major priority for many of our customers, especially with the upsurge in attacks and data leakage coming from the browser," said Ali Wasti, Managing Partner, Wipro Ventures. "SquareX's technology and their team's deep understanding of browser-native threats are of significant value to our customers, as they tackle this new attack vector. We are excited to partner with SquareX in providing Wipro's existing and new customers with SquareX's Browser Detection and Response solution."
Deployment advantages
Unlike some enterprise browser solutions, which can impose significant deployment and usability barriers, SquareX's extension model allows organisations to secure user endpoints with minimal disruption. Its detection and response platform integrates with employees' existing browsers, supporting both enterprise-wide security policies and user productivity.
According to SquareX, this approach provides a comprehensive defence against new forms of browser-native attacks while bypassing the installation and management overheads that can hamper the adoption of more complex solutions.
Strategic partnership
SquareX aims to leverage Wipro's global relationships with enterprise clients to accelerate the adoption of its solution worldwide. As browser-based threats continue to evolve, both companies see an opportunity to help organisations better manage cyber risk in browser-centric digital environments.
"We are delighted to join forces with Wipro as we continue to pioneer the industry's first Browser Detection and Response solution," said Vivek Ramachandran, Founder, SquareX, "As organizations worldwide grapple with increasingly sophisticated browser-based attacks, having a strategic partner like Wipro, who has deep enterprise relationships and global reach, will play a critical role in accelerating our mission to enable employees to be fearless online."
