AppViewX unveils AI tools for 47-day SSL certificate era

Wed, 17th Dec 2025

AppViewX has launched new features in its AVX ONE platform that target the growing challenge of managing much shorter SSL/TLS certificate lifetimes, including an expected 47-day mandate.

The New York-based software company said the release adds automation, cryptographic inventory and post-quantum readiness tools. The update also introduces artificial intelligence features for managing certificate operations.

Industry plans point to a sharp reduction in certificate validity in the next few years. Enterprises are expected to handle 200-day certificates in 2026, 100-day certificates in 2027 and 47-day certificates by 2029.

This shift will raise the number of renewals that security and infrastructure teams must process. Many organisations still use manual processes and spreadsheets to track keys and certificates.

Missed renewals already cause service outages in many sectors. These outages often affect public websites, internal applications and APIs.

AppViewX said its platform automates discovery, provisioning, renewal and revocation of digital certificates. The software runs across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

It said this approach reduces the risk of missed renewals and unmanaged certificates. It also said it supports consistent policy enforcement across different infrastructure types.

"Our customers need a future-proof solution that transforms regulatory pressure into operational excellence," said Paul Trulove, Chief Product Officer, AppViewX. "This release underscores our commitment to rapid time-to-value, measurable ROI, and innovation that helps enterprises succeed in the age of 47-day certificates and a post quantum computing world."

The company positioned the update against a backdrop of rising cryptographic risk. Many enterprises run so-called PKI sprawl, which occurs when certificates and keys sit across many unmanaged systems and teams.

Analysts have also urged organisations to build full cryptographic inventories. The goal is to prepare for new post-quantum cryptography standards later this decade.

Short-lived certificates

The new AVX ONE release focuses on managing short-lived digital certificates at scale. It automates renewal cycles and enforces re-enrolment policies that match shorter lifetime rules.

Users can define how long certificates should remain valid. The platform can also generate new private keys at renewal. AppViewX said this improves security by reducing key reuse.

The system offers enhanced reporting on renewals and expiry. Security and compliance teams can monitor adherence to internal policies and external standards through dashboards.

Post-quantum planning

The company is also targeting post-quantum migration. The updated platform produces a Cryptographic Bill of Materials, or CBOM.

The CBOM lists certificates, algorithms, cryptographic libraries and applications in one view. It shows which components use vulnerable or legacy cryptography.

AppViewX said the software then groups issues into remediation tasks. It also presents the information in a unified dashboard that executives can review.

The release aligns with guidance from analysts at Gartner. The research firm has recommended that organisations build and maintain a complete inventory of cryptographic assets by the middle of 2026. That inventory supports planning for post-quantum cryptography migration.

AI-based visibility

AppViewX has also added AI-based tools to its AVX ONE platform. The new features use natural-language search for certificate and key operations.

Users can ask for actions in plain language, such as "rotate a certificate" or "add a device group". The system interprets these requests and navigates to the relevant functions.

The platform also includes AI-driven dashboards. These give instant visibility into certificate usage and status, without the need for scripting or complex queries.

AppViewX said these AI features shorten the time engineers spend on routine tasks. The company said this allows teams to focus on higher-priority security and compliance work.

Faster deployment

The latest release also introduces predefined policy templates. Customers can use these templates for common compliance and security standards.

The company said these templates reduce initial configuration work. It said this enables organisations to put certificate automation in place within days.

The AVX ONE update includes out-of-the-box onboarding features. These guide users through connecting certificate authorities, directories and infrastructure systems.

AppViewX said these changes lower operational costs and reduce manual effort in security teams. It also said they improve consistency in how certificates are issued and managed across the enterprise.

The company stated that the November 2025 product release is available immediately. It plans to demonstrate the new features at the Gartner Identity & Access Management Summit in Dallas.

AppViewX said it will showcase its CLM and post-quantum features at the event. The company will also run demonstrations of its AI-enabled certificate management tools.
