Chatmeter unveils AI platform for safer, smarter patient feedback

Today

Chatmeter has launched new artificial intelligence tools aimed at supporting healthcare providers in managing online patient engagement, monitoring compliance, and streamlining digital presence across platforms, including planned integrations with WebMD and Vitals.com.

The company's new offering, the Pulse Ai: Signals platform, uses generative AI to address key needs for multi-location healthcare organisations, such as the ability to detect risks in online feedback and to ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations when responding to patient reviews online.

HIPAA compliance and risk management

Pulse Ai: Signals includes features that analyse healthcare providers' responses to online reviews, assess them for potential Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) violations, and provide alternative, compliant responses in real time. The technology aims to help staff avoid inadvertently disclosing protected health information while increasing efficiency in review response management at scale.

The platform also enables healthcare systems to proactively identify risks mentioned in patient feedback—such as reports of improper care, negligence, or suspected malpractice—facilitating early intervention and enhanced patient safety protocols.

"In today's digital-first world, patients expect the same standard of convenience, responsiveness, and trust online as they do in the exam room," said John Mazur, CEO of Chatmeter. "Our new AI capabilities give healthcare providers the visibility and intelligence they need to turn online reviews into actionable insights—while also safeguarding compliance and reputation at every touchpoint."

Integrations and digital management

Later this year, Chatmeter plans to integrate its platform with WebMD and Vitals.com. This will allow healthcare providers with multiple locations to centrally manage their online presence, ensuring that details such as doctor profiles remain up to date and that responses to patient reviews are handled consistently across a broad array of consumer health sites. The solution will aggregate online listings and review data, giving healthcare administrators consolidated oversight and allowing for targeted engagement with patient feedback.

Chatmeter's existing customers include some of the largest healthcare organisations in the sector, reflecting a growing trend towards digital transformation and a focus on delivering clearer, more consistent patient experiences.

Client perspectives

Healthcare providers using the platform have highlighted the impact that centralisation and AI-driven insights can have across organisational operations.

"Chatmeter's platform has transformed how we understand and respond to patient feedback across our entire network of doctors, providers, clinics and hospitals," said Verlie Joy Benoit, Senior Digital Strategist at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. "By centralising insights in one location and optimising all of our listings on every site, we can quickly identify opportunities to improve patient care and ensure our digital presence reflects our commitment to the patients we serve."

For health systems managing a footprint of clinics, providers, and affiliated hospitals, the ability to bring together disparate data sources from multiple online channels is being viewed as essential for keeping pace with changing patient expectations, while maintaining compliance and internal efficiency.

Industry outlook

"Over the next decade, the consumerisation of healthcare will accelerate as patients engage technology to take charge of their health," said Mark Emkjer, a Chatmeter board member with 35 years of experience in the provider, health plan and life sciences sectors who most recently served as CEO of WebMD Health Services. "Organisations that offer a better digital experience and higher quality of care will emerge as leaders. Holistic insights into the patient experience across all your locations will be critical, and Chatmeter's AI allows healthcare systems to unlock and act on those insights at scale."

The roll-out of the latest AI-driven tools by Chatmeter reflects a broader industry shift towards the use of technology platforms to derive insights from patient-generated content and to safeguard regulatory compliance in complex, multi-location environments.
