IHG approves Oracle OPERA Cloud for hotels globally

Fri, 30th Jan 2026

IHG Hotels & Resorts has approved Oracle OPERA Cloud as a cloud-based property management system for IHG properties across the Americas and EMEAA regions.

The approval adds Oracle to IHG's list of approved property management systems. IHG said franchisees and hotel owners can select OPERA Cloud while meeting IHG standards.

Property management systems sit at the centre of hotel operations. Hotels use them to manage reservations, check-in and check-out, room inventory, billing and operational workflows. Large hotel groups often set standards for these systems across franchised and managed estates.

Estate coverage

IHG's approval covers the Americas and EMEAA, which IHG defines as Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Oracle said OPERA Cloud is designed for complex hotels and multi-property portfolios.

Oracle said IHG properties that adopt OPERA Cloud can standardise operations and data on one platform. It positioned the approach as a way to improve visibility across hotel performance and deliver more consistent interactions with guests and loyalty members.

The companies have an existing relationship. Oracle cited IHG among its hospitality partners and pointed to its work with other hotel groups including Hyatt, Marriott, Wyndham, Accor, and Best Western.

System features

Oracle said OPERA Cloud receives quarterly updates. It also said the platform supports single sign-on and runs in the cloud. Oracle said OPERA Cloud is live and supports fiscal compliance in 236 countries and territories.

Oracle described OPERA Cloud as part of its hospitality portfolio. That portfolio includes Simphony point-of-sale, reporting and analytics tools, and Nor1 upsell software.

IHG has been assessing cloud property management options as hotel groups shift systems away from on-premise infrastructure. Many owners and operators have pushed for more flexibility in technology selection, especially across franchises with varied operating models and local requirements.

IHG framed the move as part of its work on modernising hotel technology.

"We are proud to deepen our longstanding collaboration with IHG to deliver cutting-edge cloud technologies to their franchisees. OPERA Cloud provides a proven, scalable, and highly user-intuitive suite that empowers data-driven decision making, streamlines operations, and delivers enhanced experiences for both guests and staff," said Alex Alt, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Oracle Commercial Cloud Applications.

IHG highlighted its work on cloud-based property management systems and said the platform would suit a wide range of properties within the group.

"We've been on an exciting journey toward new cloud-based property management system solutions at IHG. The Oracle OPERA Cloud hospitality platform brings advanced capabilities that will help drive performance for our hotel portfolio, including the most complex IHG properties," said Jolie Fleming.

The approval gives IHG owners another option within IHG's technology framework. It also expands Oracle's footprint in the hotel property management market, where large groups often control system access through brand standards and approved vendor lists.

Oracle said OPERA Cloud aims to reduce the amount of IT intervention required at hotel level, while maintaining operational standards and security. The company said it will continue to deliver platform updates on a quarterly basis.
