Informatica, Microsoft expand partnership for agentic AI

Thu, 20th Nov 2025

Informatica has strengthened its collaboration with Microsoft to support the development and deployment of AI agents powered by high-quality, governed data.

The partnership brings together Informatica's Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) and Microsoft's AI Foundry. Organisations will now be able to build and manage AI agents that access trusted data directly from Informatica's catalogue, data quality and master data management services through Microsoft's enterprise-grade agentic AI tools.

This interoperability is enabled by a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration, which allows AI agents developed in Azure AI Foundry to connect to relevant enterprise datasets in near real-time. These integrations are designed to help enterprises maintain security and compliance when working with large, complex datasets.

GenAI recipes

Informatica has introduced a library of pre-built templates, called GenAI recipes, to simplify and accelerate the development of AI applications for common use cases. The recipes address scenarios including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), chat history handling, and prompt chaining. They combine Microsoft's Azure OpenAI tools with Informatica's data management capabilities to streamline the development and deployment of compliant AI applications.

The recipes cover applications, such as loan processing and automobile insurance claims handling, and are built on the Foundry platform with Informatica's data management architecture as the backbone.

Informatica's CLAIRE AI engine is now natively available across Azure regions in the United States and Europe, allowing organisations to implement AI solutions while adhering to regional regulatory standards for data handling and processing.

"Our collaboration with Microsoft brings the best of Microsoft Foundry and enterprise-grade data management together. By integrating our CLAIRE AI engine and IDMC services with Foundry, we help customers build AI agents and applications with confidence, compliance and speed. This is a major leap forward in realizing the true promise of AI in the enterprise," said Krish Vitaldevara, Chief Product Officer, Informatica.

Expansion in analytics

In addition to AI-centric services, Informatica is extending support for Microsoft OneLake tables backed by Apache Iceberg. This will allow customers to unify and access data across diverse sources, reinforcing goals for open data ecosystems and interoperability. The support for Iceberg table format ensures compatibility with industry standards for data analytics and management.

Industry reaction

Dayforce is among the organisations already utilising the combined capabilities. "Our partnership with Informatica helps Dayforce develop a unified, reliable view of our customers - the foundation for providing smarter, more personalised experiences," said Anupama Jha, Vice President of Enterprise Data Governance and Analytics, Dayforce.

Microsoft welcomed the expanded integration. "Enterprises are rapidly adopting agentic AI through Microsoft Foundry. Trusted, governed data is critical to delivering accurate and responsible outcomes. Informatica's deep integration with our platform empowers customers with the data they need to bring AI to life in production," said Amanda Silver, CVP Apps and Agents, Microsoft.
