Rightworks launches security platform for bookkeepers

Rightworks has launched a security and IT platform for bookkeepers, combining cloud applications, Microsoft 365 management, and cybersecurity tools.
The new Bookkeeper Solution is aimed at firms that increasingly rely on cloud software, contractors, and offshore staff while handling sensitive client financial data. It combines a secure cloud workspace for accounting applications, managed Microsoft 365 services for collaboration and communication, and built-in cybersecurity products including Rightworks Total Security and Cloud Protect.
Many bookkeeping firms operate without dedicated IT teams, instead relying on a mix of cloud apps, file-sharing tools, and manual processes. Rightworks is targeting that market with a single platform designed to replace separate systems for access, security, and collaboration.
The launch reflects a broader push by software and services providers to target smaller accounting and bookkeeping practices with managed technology products. These firms are under pressure to take on more clients and expand their advisory work without the cost of in-house IT or specialist security staff.
Target market
The offer is designed for bookkeepers that need to manage access across multiple users, applications, and devices. The platform removes password sharing through credential masking and centralized access controls, while providing visibility into who has access to systems for compliance and client assurance.
It also includes one-click onboarding and offboarding for employees and contractors across systems, a feature aimed at firms with changing teams or outsourced support arrangements. That focus is notable because many bookkeeping businesses now rely on a mix of in-house staff, freelance workers, and overseas personnel to meet demand.
Lisa Dionisio, Founder & CEO, Paxus CPA, described the security concerns that led her firm to adopt the system.
"Hiring offshore pushed us to find the most secure solution," said Lisa Dionisio, Founder & CEO, Paxus CPA, a boutique accounting and advisory firm specializing in bookkeeping and advisory services for small businesses.
"Once we implemented Rightworks for Bookkeepers, we rolled it out across the whole team and never looked back; it's brought a lot of peace of mind knowing everyone is protected," said Dionisio.
Product scope
Beyond the core launch, Rightworks positioned the new service as an entry point to its wider platform. Firms that expand beyond bookkeeping can later add tax and desktop hosting through Cloud Premier, as well as secure outsourcing services and Spark AI, its accounting-focused artificial intelligence product.
That approach suggests Rightworks sees bookkeepers as a growth market that may later adopt a broader range of managed services. The company serves more than 70,000 businesses and accounting and tax firms, giving it an existing base from which to cross-sell related products.
Mason Swenson, Chief Product Officer at Rightworks, said the company built the service around the needs of firms that lack internal technology resources.
"Bookkeepers play a critical role in serving clients and managing financial data, yet many lack the IT and cybersecurity resources needed to scale efficiently and securely," said Mason Swenson, Chief Product Officer of Rightworks.
"We built this solution to give them enterprise-grade security, simplified operations, and a single solution so they can grow with confidence, without managing IT," said Swenson.
The offer also highlights how bookkeeping is changing as firms shift to cloud-based workflows and add advisory services alongside routine processing work. As those firms adopt more digital tools and more distributed teams, providers of managed security and administration services are increasingly presenting unified platforms as an alternative to piecemeal software buying.
Rightworks said the Bookkeeper Solution is intended to support firms from solo practitioners to larger practices, with the same system covering access, collaboration, and protection across their operations.
