Trident posts GBP £651 million income with focus on sustainability
Trident has reported its financial and operational results for the year ended 31 March 2025, showing modest growth in income and a continued emphasis on sustainability initiatives across its businesses.
Financial performance
The company reported total income of GBP £651 million for the financial year, marking a 3.5% rise compared to the previous year. Export revenues contributed 53% of the total sales, largely owing to sustained demand for its Indian bed and bath linens across the United States and European markets.
Trident achieved EBITDA of GBP £89 million, while cost-control measures led to a 16% reduction in finance costs. The group's net debt-to-EBITDA ratio was lowered to 0.95x by the end of the financial year. Overall profit after tax amounted to GBP £34 million.
Operational growth
The company expanded its manufacturing capabilities during the period, adding 15 new units across the states of Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. This summarises a workforce of over 17,500 spread across its operations. The bed and bath linen segment delivered 57% of Trident's revenue, bolstering its position in home textiles globally.
In the domain of paper products, the company maintained its status as the world's largest manufacturer of wheat straw-based copier paper, which remains a core component of its sustainable manufacturing strategy.
Sustainability focus
Trident detailed multiple achievements in environmental responsibility throughout its operations. Over half (52.74%) of all power consumed was sourced from renewable energy. In its Budhni facility, 97% of the water used in towel and sheeting production was recycled. The group also reported a significant 37% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to the previous year.
The company's sustainability credentials were further recognised by a substantial improvement in its S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment score, scoring 56 - a 34-point increase year-over-year.
Rajinder Gupta, Founder and Chairman of Trident, said:
"At Trident, weaving goes beyond textiles - it is about interlacing purpose with progress. This year's performance reflects disciplined execution and our commitment to building a sustainable, innovation-led business. We are proud to supply markets worldwide with responsibly made products while delivering long-term value for our stakeholders."
These comments were made by Rajinder Gupta, Founder and Chairman of Trident Limited.
Industry recognition and innovation
Trident was awarded the Vastra Ratna Award in acknowledgement of its contribution to the textile industry. The group also received the ET Best Organisation for Women Award, recognising its inclusive culture and leadership in diversity. The year also saw Trident securing patents related to product innovation, underscoring its ongoing investment in intellectual property and efforts to maintain its market differentiation.
Strategic direction
Looking forward, Trident continues to plan diversification of its business portfolio across textiles, paper, yarn, and chemicals. The company indicates that its luxury, eco-conscious, wellness-focused, and hospitality-grade home textile collections are expected to gain further traction in global markets. In parallel, growth is anticipated in its branded copier and maplitho paper ranges, which are being developed with a focus on eco-friendly product launches.
The business intends to expand its market share in regions such as Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Product innovation will remain a priority, with a stated intent to accelerate developments in areas such as fashion bedding, digital printing, and technical textiles.
