Nymi launches Nymi Band 4 for secure Industry 4.0 use
Nymi today announced the introduction of the Nymi Band 4, its latest wearable authenticator for passwordless Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in operational technology environments.
The Nymi Band 4, which builds on previous iterations, introduces design enhancements and extends application beyond life sciences manufacturing to encompass additional critical industries. It maintains its core function as an authentication solution, offering a practical handsfree MFA option tailored for workers in complex operational settings.
According to Nymi, the device serves as either a standalone FIDO2 authenticator or part of the Nymi Connected Worker Platform, allowing for custom applications and integration with existing systems. This feature is particularly beneficial for deskless workers such as manufacturing line operators, laboratory scientists, and field technicians.
"What we have continually heard from our life sciences customers is that most authentication solutions don't work for all their workers and environments, particularly those outside of a traditional office setting," said David Fortune, President of Nymi. "Nymi has been designing and delivering a handsfree passwordless solution for the 80% of the global workforce who are deskless workers, often sharing terminals and devices, and who work on their feet or use their hands to perform their jobs."
Nymi claims that the wearable has been developed with feedback from its customers, which include 14 of the world's top 15 pharmaceutical manufacturers. The latest iteration is described as the company's most advanced workplace wearable to date, reflecting the needs and insights shared by this diverse clientele.
"We anticipate additional industries will adopt the Nymi Band because it makes life easier for their workers," Fortune continued. "By offering a best-in-class solution tailored to an often-overlooked workforce, the Nymi Band also helps organizations meet stringent compliance standards, strengthen security, ensure data integrity, and embrace Industry 4.0 with on-the-person authentication—also known as the connected worker."
Interest in the Nymi Band has been growing outside the life sciences sector as major companies seek to enhance operational efficiency and alleviate the common security frustrations associated with traditional password systems.
The launch of the Nymi Band 4 underscores the company's dedication to supporting deskless workers with accessible and secure authentication technology. This focus on industry-specific challenges reflects a broader commitment to supporting digital transformation and improving operational efficiencies across various sectors.
