QSIC appoints Sean Cheyney to drive global retail media growth
QSIC has announced the appointment of Sean Cheyney as executive vice president of global business development as it seeks to expand internationally and strengthen partnerships across the retail sector.
Leadership expansion
The company, known for its in-store audio platform driven by artificial intelligence and data intelligence, continues to grow following what it describes as record adoption across U.S. retail locations. Cheyney's appointment marks a significant move as the company targets wider global growth and deeper engagement with retailers.
Cheyney brings more than two decades of experience from roles at Triad Retail Media, CitrusAd (now Epsilon Retail Media), and most recently Vistar Media, where he played a key role in developing and scaling their retail media offering.
Strategic priorities
QSIC reports having more than doubled in size since January, underscoring the momentum building in in-store retail media. The expanded leadership team is positioned to facilitate continued global expansion, with Cheyney expected to spearhead the creation and strengthening of strategic alliances in new markets.
"In-store retail media is one of the biggest opportunities for retailers right now. Shoppers move seamlessly between digital and physical channels, and the real challenge is bringing those worlds together. Sean has been part of that journey from the start. His experience across digital, in-store and out-of-home makes him the right person to help us build stronger partnerships and show retailers how to get more value out of their stores," said Matt Elsley, CEO and co-founder of QSIC.
This focus reflects the industry-wide challenge of integrating digital and offline experiences, an area Cheyney has worked extensively within during his previous tenures. At Vistar Media, Cheyney established and led the retail media division, while at CitrusAd he was involved during a period of high growth, culminating in its acquisition and rebranding to Epsilon Retail Media. His earlier work at Triad placed him at the nexus of early retail media innovations.
Cheyney's vision
"QSIC has built something truly unique by combining audio with data intelligence to create meaningful retail media experiences inside the store. I've spent my career helping retailers unlock new growth opportunities, and I see enormous potential to rapidly expand this platform globally. I'm excited to join this talented team to build strategies that generate revenue and transform how shoppers connect with brands in-store through audio," said Cheyney.
QSIC's approach utilises audio combined with data analysis to enhance engagement and create new revenue streams for retailers. The platform offers music curation, advert production, sales support, and the measurement of in-store audio advertising's impact on real-world transactions through proprietary technology.
Recent achievements
In the past year, QSIC has received industry attention, including recognition as "New Technology Solution of the Year" at the Retail MediaX Awards. The company continues to expand its platform features, focusing on enabling more personalised in-store experiences and providing granular reporting to clients.
QSIC counts among its clients international retailers across several sectors, including fuel and convenience, grocery, liquor, hospitality, fashion, and specialty retail. Its tools are said to reach over 100 million in-store shoppers each month.
The addition of Cheyney to the executive team signals a focused commitment to driving further international exposure and forming new commercial relationships as the retail media marketplace evolves amid changing shopper behaviour and technological advancements.
