Boomi study reveals 347% ROI & $9.8m NPV over three years

Fri, 5th Sep 2025

Boomi has released findings from a new Total Economic Impact study conducted by Forrester Consulting, showing organisations using its platform achieved a 347% return on investment and a net present value of $9.8 million over three years.

The Forrester TEI study assessed the business advantages, efficiency gains, and cost savings realised by companies using the Boomi platform for integration, API management, data management, automation, and AI readiness. Researchers based their analysis on detailed interviews with Boomi customers from global manufacturing, energy, and high-tech sectors, creating a composite model to quantify the financial impact of the platform's large-scale deployment.

Key data from the study highlighted a net present value of $9.8 million and a payback period of fewer than six months. Organisations cited in the report attributed their rapid time to value and long-term benefits to the deployment of the Boomi Enterprise Platform.

Financial details

The study broke down several quantified benefits experienced by Boomi customers over three years. According to Forrester, these organisations gained $5.6 million through business and partner productivity, driven by workflow automation and real-time data visibility. Improved platform reliability, uptime, and compliance contributed another $3.0 million in reduced business risk. There were $1.5 million in technology cost savings attributed to the consolidation and retirement of legacy platforms, along with $1.3 million in IT employee and contractor savings resulting from quicker development cycles and less maintenance. Additionally, the enterprises reported $1.2 million in incremental profits due to faster rollout of new services that generate revenue.

The platform replaces traditional point-to-point integrations with a unified, low-code model. As a result, Forrester found interviewees were able to reduce integration timelines by 65%, cut down on errors, and enabled both IT and business teams to focus more on innovation rather than troubleshooting.

Customer perspective

"The stability of the platform and the holistic nature of the automation platform that it gives you is like a single pane of glass. In one application area, you see all your code base, what you've deployed, and all the executions on an ongoing basis. We appreciate the ease of use, the reliability, in terms of the executions, and it's easy to support as well," an integration architect at a manufacturing company said.

Further unquantified benefits noted by customers included enhanced API security, reduced compliance risks, a positive effect on employee morale due to fewer issues requiring after-hours resolution, increased value from existing infrastructure investments, and the establishment of a scalable base for managing AI agents through Boomi Agentstudio.

Platform features

Boomi offers pre-built agents and connectors, robust APIs, and drag-and-drop workflows, which the report states have enabled organisations to shorten integration times from weeks to days and allowed IT teams to focus more on tasks with greater strategic impact. The study highlights that the Boomi Enterprise Platform has assisted enterprises in modernising legacy systems, improving collaboration, and scaling to meet new business and technology challenges while reducing operational complexity and demands on resources.

Customers interviewed by Forrester also described practical improvements, such as the elimination of manual processes and the facilitation of near-real-time data exchange between systems and business partners. This has contributed to a reduction in human error and enabled employees to shift their attention to higher-value tasks.

Leadership remarks

"Boomi is the engine behind some of the world's most complex, mission-critical automation strategies," said Steve Lucas, Chairman and CEO of Boomi. "For us, this study validates what our customers already know: when you unify your data, systems, and people with Boomi, you accelerate outcomes and unlock new possibilities - whether you're streamlining operations or preparing for agentic transformation. It's not just integration. It's intelligent automation and orchestration at enterprise scale."

Boomi's platform is positioned by the company as critical infrastructure for organisations advancing into an era characterised by AI-driven autonomous systems. The study's respondents signalled that Boomi not only improved their integration and automation capabilities but also provided a strategic foundation for orchestrating workflows in increasingly complex business environments.
